Welcome to my page! I am honored that you would take the time to visit. Allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Chantea Warner, and I am an educator in Houston, Texas. I have 15 years of classroom teaching experience and have a passion for educating students, particularly those who are English language learners (or ELLs). In 2018, I began a new chapter of my career as an educator when I was given the responsibility of teaching Beginning and Intermediate ELLs, many of which spoke little to no English. This caused me to interrogate everything that I had done as a classroom teacher to ensure that learning was taking place. I realized that my approach needed to change in order for my students to truly acquire the knowledge that I wanted to impart.

In 2020, my interest in effectively teaching ELLs led me to a doctorate program. Currently, I am a student at Texas A&M University-Commerce majoring in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on English as a Second Language. I have chosen to use this site as a way to process the new information that I am learning in my doctoral courses as well as share strategies that yield positive results with my students. My blog posts are here to encourage other educators of ELLs who aspire to fine tune their current pedagogy, especially now that we are exploring more about teaching in the virtual world. I hope that you will join me on my journey of learning! Together, we can cultivate a learning community where we can tap into new ideas that will equip us to teach language learners even more effectively. Are you ready? Let’s get started!
